CHUNKY SWEATER + DENIM SKIRT

Chunky sweaters are one of my favorite fall trends, I mean what’s not to love about a comfortable sweater? It’s like wearing a blanket out in public. yes please. One of my other favorite pieces for this year has to be my denim skirt. Honestly, I got this skirt in the hopes of wearing it on a family vacation… but couldn’t really figure out how to style it for my body. Since then it collected dust in my drawer until the end of summer when I reached for it and paired it with a light blue crop top (here). But I wasn’t sold… Fast forward to my birthday trip to NYC last week. I took the skirt with me again, unsure of how to style it. Until one day, I was determined to wear it. I don’t know what got into me, I just knew that I had to come up with something that worked. I rummaged through my suitcase for quite some time, until I  finally stumbled upon this ensemble. It was so me! Casual, comfortable and put together… I threw on a few small accessories and my trusty backpack, and off we went, to explore Manhattan the right way.

Moral of the story– Sometimes if you’re unsure of how to style something, give it a few weeks and then go back and try looking at it with a fresh pair of eyes. I can’t tell you the amount of clothes I thought would be impossible for me to style, just to come back and come up with a brilliant idea for it in a few days.

Do you have something that’s been sitting in your closet just waiting to be pulled out for another try?
