When it comes to creative and fun date ideas, there’s no better season than summer. With fresh air and sunshine, it’s time to grab your favorite sundress and head out for a romantic rendezvous with your significant other. If you need some inspiration for romantic summer date ideas, I’ve got plenty. Here are my top 5 summer date ideas:
1.PLAY TOURIST IN YOUR OWN CITY
In a city like Atlanta you’re never done seeing the whole city. If you feel like that about your city, make a plan. Start with an early coffee at the most instagramable coffee shop, next make your way to breakfast, I’ve been dying to try south city kitchen here in Atlanta. Once you’re done stuffing your face with the most delicious chicken and waffles, take a stroll around a trendy neighborhood and maybe visit a museum. By this time, you’ll probably be hungry again, and what better season than summer for ice cream? After ice cream and a little more strolling around, it should be the best hour by now– Happy Hour! Every city is filled with the beautiful rooftops that show off the skyline. Now, finally, it’s dinner time! Put on your cutest date night outfit and finally try that restaurant you’ve had bookmarked on your yelp app.
2. GAME NIGHT IN
If you’re not a go-go-go person like number one is, keep it simple. You don’t have to get all fancy-schmancy and drop big bucks to have a good time. Tie your hair up and set up a play date with your guy. Throw on your PJ’s and grab a tub of ice-cream and play your favorite board game! Our favorite is Scrabble, especially ’cause A lets me win!
3. PACK A PICNIC
This is one of my favorite ones! Find a park with a beautiful lake view and spread out your picnic blanket. In your basket, pack plastic wine glasses, a bottle of your favorite wine, and all your favorite foods (or pick up pizza!) Enjoy each others company without distractions!
4. GO TO THE BOOKSTORE
I feel like people don’t do this enough. While A and I were dating, he used to pick me up and we would go to Barnes & Noble and sit there for hours. We would walk around the store and he would pick up four or five business or inspirational books, and I would get my laptop out and do homework. Looking back now, it’s my favorite memory of us.
5. COOK A NEW MEAL TOGETHER
Life gets so busy, that sometimes you need to step back and start enjoying the little things again. Print out that recipe from Pinterest you’ve had saved for two years and head to the grocery store together. Gather all your ingredients and then come home, pop a bottle of your favorite vino and get started! At the end of it, you learn a new dish and the best part is, you did it together!
