Since I decided not to get a full time job over a year ago, planning my days have been a learning experience. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always had a schedule, somewhere to be early in the morning or someone counting on me to get something done. Now that I’m home most of the days I had to make my own schedule. The first few months were fun, I could get up whenever I wanted, eat whenever I wanted, I could even stay in my pjs all day if I wanted. Eventually that got old and I started to realize I wasn’t getting as much done as I planned.
Over the last year and a half I’ve established some ways of motivating myself to become more productive in the day.
Below are my 3 tips to being more productive:
- Plan your days: If you have a day or days that no-one is expecting you at work, or don’t have a task to finish don’t just let that day go by. Plan what you are going to do during that free day. For example; pick one spot in the house to deep clean or organize, or make a list of errands you have been meaning to run but haven’t yet– then run them.
- Create a routine: A routine or schedule is SO important. If you think about it, most of us have lived off a routine most of our lives. In school we had a particular time we needed to show up, we had a certain time period for lunch, and then a bell would ring and we would go home. As adults we have to create our own routine. So whether its working out first thing in the morning or eating lunch at a particular time, be sure that you have things you do everyday at the same time.
- Make your bed: This tip goes hand in hand with #2. If you start off making your bed in the morning you would have already accomplished something within the first 15-30 minutes of your day. This will encourage you to get out of bed early in the morning and get your day rolling–also no-one likes to lay around in a made bed.
I hope that these 3 tips help you get sh*t done and encourage you to create a more productive and healthy lifestyle. If you have any other tips, I would love to read! Leave me a comment down below!
